The Aquarist I for the Fish and Herpetology department will provide advanced knowledge and care for aquatic animals including amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. They will clean and maintain aquarium exhibits and perform life support maintenance on all systems. The Aquarist I will prepare animal diets and feed according to established procedures and be responsible for the day to day maintenance of life support systems and water quality perimeters in assigned area.
This position will enter exhibits by use of SCUBA equipment to clean exhibitry, provide animal care, and/or feed so an Open Water SCUBA certification is required.
Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in marine biology or related field from a four year college or university is required with one year of experience working in a public aquarium/zoo. Any combination of education and experience would likely produce the required knowledge skills and abilities.
