    Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position will be responsible for researching, recommending, installing, supporting, and upgrading computer software and hardware for the Security Surveillance System, Vessel Traffic Information System, and the Access Control System (referred to as the Surveillance System); while providing support to the Director, Information Technology.
     
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Support daily operations of the Surveillance System
    • Research, recommend, and install new versions of the Surveillance System and ensure synergy between the various components both hardware/software and servers
    • Coordinate preventative maintenance on the Surveillance System hardware/software and servers
    • Troubleshoot reported problems with the Surveillance System and repair as necessary
    • Train end-users on the use of the Surveillance System as it pertains to their job
    • Maintain control of all Surveillance System inventory and warranties
    • Negotiate best financial options for future warranties and maintenance contracts
    • Review the software/hardware capabilities of the current Surveillance System and make recommendations for additional options or new technologies
    • Design technical documentation of the Surveillance System and best practices to follow documented in the IT knowledge base
    • Review and study current industry standards, future technologies, and security-related issues as they pertain to the Surveillance System
    • Provide documentation or information as requested from upper management in the form of FOIA’s or requested video and/or audio clips following the Port Corpus Christi policy Chain of Custody procedures and testify in a court of law the nature of the documentation’s source
    • Maintain records, documentation, and information as needed or required by Coast Guard, on-Port military personnel, City of Corpus Christi EOC and Port Police Department
    • Responsible for control of simultaneous multiple projects
    • Assist Director Information Technology in creating the capital and expense budget as it pertains to the Surveillance System
    • Adhere to PCCA policy and maintain good employee relations
    • Drive vehicle as necessary to complete assigned tasks and works required hours/shifts necessary to fulfill objectives
    • Performs related duties as assigned
    • CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
    • Tier (1) status designation
    CANDIDATE PROFILE
    The preferred candidate for this position should be a self-starter capable of independent work and creative teamwork; should be an organized, thorough, and disciplined individual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:
    EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
    • Minimum two years formal education from an accredited college or university
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
    • Valid driver’s license
    EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
    • Five years previous experience with wide area networks and local area networks, wireless communications, VPN, Cisco switches/firewalls/routers, PC software applications, Access databases, SQL databases, Windows, Microsoft Office, Windows server systems, remote client access utilities, knowledge base software and help desk software
    • Must understand the basic functions of video systems, microwave communications, radio communications, radar systems, and automatic identification systems
    • Proven experience with SQL database systems, Access, HTML, and XLM
    TECHNICAL SKILLS
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written
    • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel, Outlook and other related applications
    • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies, promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal laws
    • Maintain good employee relations and encourages and fosters a helpful environment where teamwork prevails. Assists senior management and office staff where appropriate
    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    • Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
    • Ability to work in a general office environment, and on a work site with exposure to adverse weather conditions, fumes and /or air particulates, working in high precarious places, risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts, moderate noise levels and working at heights, ability to wear personnel protective equipment, including hard hat, steel toed footwear, eye and hearing protection when performing work functions
    • Communicating verbally, in writing and over devices such as phones and mobile phones
    • Ability to operate mechanical and electrical equipment and light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
